How much does an influencer cost in Canada?

By influencersAd Editorial Team · Updated

Is there a standard price list?

influencersAd doesn't set prices. Creators set their own rates, and each brand and creator agree the final price for every collaboration.

No. Creators set their own rates, and published "rate cards" are surveys and estimates, not official prices. The ranges below come from two established marketing-technology companies, Meltwater and impact.com, as published in their 2025 rate guides (checked October 2026). impact.com quotes US dollars; Meltwater quotes dollar figures without naming a currency. We haven't converted anything to Canadian dollars.

These are industry ranges from cited sources, not influencersAd booking data. We'll publish our own Canadian figures once there are enough real bookings to make them meaningful.

What do influencers charge per post?

Here is what each source publishes for one Instagram post:

Creator size Meltwater (tiers by followers) impact.com
Nano $20–$100 (500–10K followers) $500–$2,000
Micro / mid $100–$5,000 (10K–100K) $2,000–$8,000 (micro), $8,000–$20,000 (mid-tier)
Macro $5,000–$10,000 (100K–500K) $20,000–$45,000
Mega / celebrity $10,000+ (500K+) $45,000+

The gap is large, especially at the small end. Meltwater's figures sit at the low end of the market. impact.com's are much higher across every tier. A sensible reading is that nano and micro creators can be affordable for small brands, while large creators quickly reach five figures, and that you should expect quotes anywhere inside these ranges.

Does the platform change the price?

Yes. Video takes more work than a photo, and in both sources YouTube videos are the most expensive format. Here are both sources' figures for TikTok and YouTube:

Creator size TikTok (Meltwater) TikTok (impact.com) YouTube video (Meltwater) YouTube (impact.com)
Nano $5–$50 $500–$2,000 $20–$200 $1,000–$2,500
Micro / mid $25–$1,250 $2,000–$20,000 $200–$10,000 $2,500–$25,000
Macro $1,250–$2,500 $20,000–$45,000 $10,000–$20,000 $25,000–$49,000
Mega / celebrity $2,500+ $45,000+ $20,000+ $49,000+

In Meltwater's data, TikTok posts come out cheaper than Instagram posts at the same tier, and YouTube videos cost the most. Meltwater also lists Instagram Stories at $53–$1,205 each.

What else moves the price?

Both sources agree that follower count is only the starting point. Meltwater lists platform, engagement rate, content format, usage rights, exclusivity and the number of deliverables. impact.com adds audience fit, media quality, creative requirements, production costs, payment terms and timeline.

In practice, expect to pay more when you ask for:

  • Video instead of photos, or several deliverables (for example a Reel plus three Stories)
  • Usage rights: permission to reuse the content in your own ads, website or email
  • Exclusivity: the creator agrees not to work with your competitors for a period
  • Tight deadlines, extra revisions or a detailed script
  • A highly engaged or very specific audience, such as a niche that buyers in your category follow

Are there other ways to pay?

Yes. impact.com reports that brands often combine a flat fee with a 10–20% commission on the sales a creator drives. Four out of five creators prefer that mix of a fixed fee plus performance pay. Gifting free products is another common start for nano creators. In Canada, any of these counts as a paid relationship that has to be disclosed (see our #ad disclosure guide).

What could a small budget buy?

Using the published ranges as a rough guide (actual quotes vary):

  • About $500: one to several posts from nano creators, depending on which source's pricing you meet in practice.
  • About $2,000–$5,000: a handful of micro creators, or one or two mid-sized creators, for a short campaign.
  • $10,000 and up: a macro creator, or a wider group of micro creators across several platforms.

Whether to spread a budget across several smaller creators or spend it on one larger creator depends on your goal. Our micro vs. macro guide explains the trade-offs.

How do costs work on influencersAd?

On influencersAd, creators keep 100% of their rate. Brands pay the creator's rate plus one Protected Pay service fee, shown in full before checkout: 20% on Starter, 15% on Growth and 10% on Scale. For example, a CA$500 booking costs a brand on Starter CA$600 in total. The creator receives the full CA$500. Payment is held until the content is delivered, and refunded if it isn't.

Brand plans start at CA$19.99 a month (Starter), with Growth at CA$79 and Scale at CA$199 a month. See pricing for details.

What should a quote include?

Before you accept, make sure the quote spells out:

  • Deliverables: each post, video or Story, on which platform, and how long each video is.
  • Dates: when drafts are due and when the content goes live.
  • Revisions: how many rounds are included.
  • Usage rights: whether you may reuse the content, where, and for how long.
  • Exclusivity: whether the creator will avoid competitors, and for how long.
  • Disclosure: that the content will be clearly labelled as advertising.

A quote that leaves these out isn't comparable with one that includes them.

How do I get real quotes?

  1. Write a short brief: product, goal, city or region, platforms, the deliverables you want, and your budget.
  2. Shortlist creators whose audience matches your customers, not just their follower count.
  3. Ask each creator for a quote for the exact deliverables, and confirm usage rights and exclusivity in writing.
  4. Compare quotes against the ranges above. A price far outside them should come with a clear reason, such as a very engaged niche audience or extensive usage rights.
